Nearly Lemon (1991) is an award-winning, Midwestern-American, multidisciplinary artist. As a disabled parent and artist, they explore themes of loss, identity, and the ephemeral self as it relates to the natural world. Their daily practice is a transitory language, chiefly concerned with justice and decolonization. Their research integrates globally and eco-conscious methods of recycled materials, painting, writing, found object sculpture, photography, textiles, digital medium, audio, video, performance, and installations.

Awarded the 2021 On-Ramp Creative Entrepreneurship Grant and Fellowship by the Indiana Arts Commission, Nearly created Grief Space – a shelter comprised of locally harvested, invasive plant material and donated single-use plastics to host community grief support and emotional regulation resources. Nearly completed Lenka Clayton’s 2023 Spring Mentorship program and is a 2023-2024 resident of An Artist in Residency in Motherhood. Their work is represented in private collections, the 2022 Group Exhibit Artists at Work at the Gayle Karch Cook Center, and multiple issues of Queen Spirit Magazine.

Nearly is currently developing a new body of work exploring parenting with memory loss and facial aphasia for a solo exhibition to take place in the Winter of 2025. Recent works include collaborations with sound and visual artist YOURHEAD, 2024 writing facilitation via Louisville's Golden Hours Workshop, and ongoing creative works with artist-musician TanrLemn, artist-poet Sunny Lately, and artist-creator Korie Griggs
